Maori Farm Animation

Kia Ora bloggers, this week was Māori Language Week in NZ and at school, we had to make an animation that had 12 kupu. I and my good mate Coll made it together we did one on the farm and we had 3 animals in Maori we also decided to put the lyrics to lyrics to  MacDonald Had a Farm. Now I am going to show you my slide I hope you like it.

Amazing Bedmas

Kia Ora Bloggers, For Maths we have been learning about Bedmas. If you don't know what Bedmas is it stands for Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. For this task we had to make an informing presentation or video to teach people how to use Bedmas and what to do. Have you ever used Bedmas before in your maths? If you have try work this out. (2x9)-(1x6)x4=

One Of My Favourite Memories

Kia Ora bloggers, For literacy we had to write two stories about our best memories. This memory above is one of my favourites, it was a special cricket match which all my friends from different clubs were playing. It was such a great day but the second game got called off cause of the rain. I hope to do this again another day. Hope you enjoy reading it. 

Ocean Sustainability

 

Hey Bloggers, today I had to make a Canva on Ocean Sustainability. First I had to go on a site with information about Ocean Sustainability. Then I got some information about it put that on a canva. I also added some photos to make it more engaging. How has lock down been for you? What have been up too? Please comment if I need to improve on anything or if I could do something better next time. I think I did really well. :)

Maui Voki

 Today we made a Voki about Maui and the Fish. We had to make a script about a video that we have watched. We had to base the script on the video. We had to do this in a group of 5 but we went into a group of 3. I think we did  really well and I hope you think that too. Speech 2021

 Kia Ora, Bloggers. In literacy we are making speech's about 1080. I did mine about why you should use 1080. Did you know that 95% of pests die by using 1080. This speech had to be at least 500 or more words long. I think I did really well writing my speech and I think I used lot's of punctuation and detail.

Matariki Print Making

 Kia Ora bloggers, since it was Matariki, we made some art that evolved it. It's called print making, you draw some mountains on the bottom of a piece of paper and then draw the Matariki stars at the top and making sure that you do it the opposite way cause when you print it will be the right way. I drew some koru's round the stars to make it pop out a bit more cause otherwise it would be very dull, I also put some snow on the mountains to add some more detail. I drew on the foam with some pressure, cause then when I print it would hopefully show up more and look cooler. These are steps. Firstly you grab a bit of A4 paper and fold a quarter of it, draw your mountains making sure not to go over the line. Secondly you draw the Matariki stars but backwards. This is mine

We also made a frame. All you need is something square, a blade, ruler and a pen or a pencil. I think I did really well, please comment if I need to improve on anything or if I could of done something better.

S.T.E.A.M Egg Drop

 

This week we had to do an egg drop we had to make the egg safe with 4 pieces of paper one piece of card 1 m of string and 2 big pieces of Sellotape. This was an amazing task so I hope you try this yourselves. S.T.E.A.M stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Please comment if you have done something similar. 

Once Book and World War II

Hey bloggers, 

Throughout literacy this term we have been reading a book called Once by Morris Gleitzman. It is about a boy called Felix and the Holocaust, and him taking us on his journey throughout this horrible point in time. We walk through Felix's hometown with Felix guiding us around where he use to live. He remembers what it was like when he lived their, but now it is nothing because of what atrocities the Nazis committed. Their was a lot of feelings in the book Once like Fear, Racism, Emotions, Imagination and many more. 

We made a site and brain stormed some questions for our site, mine were Why Did Hitler Hate The Jews, When Did The Holocaust Start, What did the Camps look like in the inside, How Did The Nazi Take The Jews and Where Were The Camps Located. I found out some information about Concentration Camps and there are actually way more Camps then I thought.

Yanny Or Laurel?

Hello Bloggers, Today for Literacy we are learning about Laurel and Yanny and about how we hear it and why others hear it different. There is a big discussion around the whole world, about what you hear and what others hear. There is also something similar it is called Green needle and Brainstorm. 

In our Literacy most of us heard Yanny instead of Laurel. The secret is frequency. The audio information that makes us hear Yanny is higher frequency than the audio information that makes us hear Laurel. Some of the variation may be due to the audio system playing the sound. For example you might have a better set of head phones that might make you hear different sounds like the Yanny and Laurel. 

 But some of it is also the mechanics of your ears, and what you’re expecting to hear. Sometimes you could hear both and that is normal for some people. Older adults tend to start losing their hearing at the higher frequency ranges. In the whole world 42% of people hear Laurel, 40% of people hear Yanny and 17% of people hear both. 😄

Treaty Of Waitangi

 Hey Bloggers, for Inquiry we are learning about the Treaty of Waitingi and about the British and the Maori  settlers. So the teachers set us off with a task, the task was to go onto a google doc and write a script being in the British or Maori perspective. I chose to be in a Maori perspective. Then we had to go on a site called Voki and put our writing in it and make a character that look like a Maori settler or a British. Here is the link.

Wainui Camp Video

 

Hey Bloggers for camp we went to Wainui and it was really fun. For this task we had to make a video of the favourite activity and the trickiest and the funnest things we did. I thought I could improve on high ropes and get up higher where's more agility and with ease. Have you been to Wainui before?
