Then our teacher got some supplies so we could observe different drinks reacting with mentos. We used L&P, Lift, Sprite and Lemonade. The best reaction was the Lemonade because it went the highest and it was pretty cool. This was really fun and I recommend you to do this. Science Experiment
Hey, Bloggers for Literacy this term is based on Space and Science. First, we had to get into pairs and get two beakers the same because otherwise, it will be uneven and not fair. Then we filled them both equally. After we put the solid one first and it took 1.23 seconds and the crushed up one took 37.97 seconds, so a big difference. The whole tablet would take longer because it had less surface area and the crushed up one had more surface area and it would take less time. Do you like doing experiments? Please comment if I need to improve on anything I would love the feedback.

Aurora Art and Info
For Inquiry, we had to make an Aurora as a piece of art. First, we had to rip a piece of paper to make it look like a mountain range. After that, we had to get a paintbrush and flick white paint to make stars. Then we had to use chalk pastels to make the Aurora and smudge it up the paper. Finally, we had to make the Matariki stars. Here is mine.
As early as 1616, the astronomer Galileo Galilei used the name aurora borealis to describe them, taking the name of the mythical Roman goddess of the dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for the wind of the north, Boreas. The aurora australis, or the southern lights, occur around the south polar region. The northern lights are caused by collisions between fast-moving particles, from space and the oxygen and nitrogen gas in our atmosphere. Energetic electrically charged particles (mostly electrons) accelerate along the magnetic field lines into the upper atmosphere, where they collide with gas atoms, causing the atoms to give off light.

Render Forest About Questions
When reading a book, have you ever been curious about something you were reading, and wanted to find out more to help you understand what you were reading better? We have been learning about how important this is this week in Literacy.
When we read The Magic School Bus inside the human body’ I formed some advanced questions using ‘how’ and ‘why’. I made sure they were open-ended questions that would help me understand the book more. An example of one of my questions was “Why are intestines coiled up?’ and I then researched and found out that an adults intestine is 7.5m long, so it needs to coil up so that it fits in the body.
Next, we got to choose our own book to read out of our virtual library and we had to form 3 advanced questions about it. Our create task this week was to share these in a creative way. I chose to do it with Renderforest and it was about a book called ‘In the blood’
Do you ever do further research when you are reading a book to deepen your understanding?

Amazing Adobe
This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell. When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences. We want to show them - not tell them.
Have a look at my video and see if you can you make some inferences about what I have written.
Do you think the elderly man is happy?
Crazy Compass
Kia ora Bloggers,This week in maths we have been looking at angles and polygons. We have been determining the interior angles of a shape as well as drawing some shapes using a compass- not a North/South compass, but a pair of compasses that you draw circles with.

Hey bloggers, for maths we learnt how to name angles they are the obtuse, acute, reflex and right angle. This was really fun to learn. Did you know those angles? And we learnt how to use a protractor. Have you used a protractor? I think I did really well in this task I hope you think that too. We first had to put three different numbers and label the angle. And then use the protractor to find the measurement to the question. Please measurement comment if I need to improve on anything.

Wonderful Week 5 Mashup
Hey Bloggers, this is my week 5 mashup. First for literacy we have been reading the book Going Solo by Roald Dahl. We had to make a biography about him and his life. We could do this on any DLO, and I chose Canva because it is very cool and easy to use. Have you read one of Roald Dahl books before? Did you know he sold 250 million books? For my Tech Challenge, I had to choose any options off the site we were sent and I chose the Fabric Fun. It was really cool to make because we had to sew all the stitches and put the buttons and the tongue, as you can see I have made a Snake. Have you made a sock puppet before? For maths, I had to answer the questions that we were set about volume and capacity. This was a really fun activity to do. Do you know the answers to the questions I had to answer? Please comment if I need to Improve on anything I would love the feedback from you. I think I did really well on all of the work that I did.

Super Survival
In literacy, we have been reading Going Solo by Roald Dahl. It tells his story from where Boy left off.
He went to Africa to work for The Shell Company and he has many adventures there. Some of these are really funny.
He then joined the RAF to fly in WW2.
We have recreated a part of the story where his plane crashes in the desert. He manages to survive although he is blinded by the crash and badly injured. He does get his sight back eventually.
Going Solo is a great novel that I would recommend you read.
What is your favourite part of the book?

I think I made a great pizza, please comment if you think it looks good. I really enjoyed making it I recommend you give it a go. Please comment if you think I should add something on my pizza I would love the feedback. I also had to make a pizza box. I drew the pizza box on paper and then coloured it in and took a photo of it. If you have made your own pizza I would love to see what you have made in the comments. I had stakeholders to give feedback on the pizza that I made and if I can improve next time. Lemon Yoghurt Cake
- Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with yoghurt, stirring to just combine and form a smooth batter.
- Spoon mixture into prepared tin and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Once cold, remove the cake from the tin and spoon over lemon drizzle icing so it covers the top and runs down the sides of the cake. Decorate with extra lemon zest, if desired.
- To make the icing, combine sifted icing sugar and lemon juice in a bowl and stir to form a smooth and pourable icing. Add a little boiling water, if necessary, to achieve the correct consistency.
